CS Lewis loathed one of his fellow Oxford academics so much that he satirized him in a series of seven previously unpublished poems that have been discovered.

With November’s presidential election looming, Screwtape’s supposed letter will no doubt be dusted down and made to go viral once again. Counterfeit though it may be, it is still worth asking the question: “Does Screwtape’s letter contain any truth to it nonetheless?” I should say it does.
Earlier this year, I also wrote a piece about fake letters from Screwtape on politics going viral, but Lewis actually did write on the topic through the pen of his demonic scribe.
